γάλα — Ancient Greece + Mythology
Goats milk / γάλα is our hero ingredient in this gentle soap. In mythology, the father of the gods, Zeus, was nurtured by a goat named Amalthea. As Zeus' father, Cronus, would devour his offspring after birth, Rhea decided to keep her infant safe and gave him to Amalthea who took over his upbringing in a cave on Mount Ida (Crete) and fed him with her milk.
Ancient Greek women and men took care of their appearance and body. That happened with the help of ingredients found in their native environments like olive oil, honey, herbs and flowers. How they look emphasized their status and wealth.
The Egyptians regarded the sacred goat’s milk as a gift to the gods and the Egyptian aristocrats used it internally and externally as an elixir of youth and beauty. Cleopatra, always aware of what was happening in the field, used goat’s milk to maintain the suppleness and smoothness of her skin so she can look good in engravings. And Hippocrates, the famous ancient physician of Antiquity, called in his works the goat milk a “miraculous liquid” and a “healing essence”, recommending it as a medicine.
Ritual
Use plenty of water to create a silky lather to wash hands, body + face and rinse with water. This natural soap will gently cleanse and hydrate - no need to moisturise unless you want to.
Do not leave this natural bar of soap sitting in a pool of water or an area that will constantly get wet as it will soften prematurely. If you keep this soap dry between uses it will last a long time
