αφροδίτη — Ancient Greece + Mythology
In Greek Mythology, the hero ingredient of Aphrodite - rose was born when Chloris, the goddess of flowers, stumbled upon the lifeless body of a nymph lying in the forest. Moved by her fate, Chloris looked to her fellow gods for help in transforming the nymph into a flower. Aphrodite gave the nymph the gift of beauty; Dionysus gave her nectar for fragrance; and the three Graces bestowed upon her the gifts of charm, joy, and splendour. Aphrodite named the flower Rose and dedicated it to her son, Eros, the god of love.
Roses were known to Greeks almost three thousand years ago and were considered to be the “queen of flowers.” Rose oil and rose water were used by Ancient Greek women in handmade products to soothe, cleanse, and nourish dry skin.
